VMP Final Countdown: Number 9 – Collen Warner
Highest Ranking: 6 Lowest ranking: 14 Average Ranking: 9.52 Kristin: 9. *Our ‘holding winger’ – quietly effective and under-utilized. Solid depth piece, TFC definitively won that trade. Sorry Issey, don’t mean to be inhumane.* Collen Warner surprised me this year; he’d impressed a few times in 2014 but this year I found myself missing him…

VMP FInal Countdown: Number 10 – Jackson
Highest Ranking: 5 Lowest ranking: 17 Average Ranking: 10.73 (Edit: Almost all of this was written before the decision to not pick up his option for next year) Tony: 10. If there exists the everyman in the “Joga Bonito” world of Brazilian football – it must be Jackson. He has the rough tackles of a…

VMP Final Countdown: Number 11 – Josh Williams
Highest Ranking: 7 Lowest Ranking: 20 Average Ranking: 12.79 Duncan: 8 Was very underwhelmed when he signed, after all could a NYCFC reject really be any kind of improvement to even TFC’s weak defence? But hey, he was a right back and we certainly needed a right back, so why the hell not, worth a…

VMP Final Countdown: Number 12 – Ashtone Morgan
Highest Ranking: 6 Lowest Ranking: 25 Average Ranking: 12.79 Kristin: 10. *Nasty Left Back actually played! After being nailed to the bench the previous season, TFC’s defensive woes meant Morgan got to play. Saw some decent play – still has a future in the game.* I have a lot of time for Ashtone Morgan and…

VMP Final Countdown: Number 13 – Damien Perquis
Highest Ranking: 6 Lowest Ranking: 26 Average Ranking: 12.79 Tony: 9. Human. Loyal. Wildly unpredictable in the back. Brought in from Portugal via France by way of Poland, Damien Perquis was obviously purchased as the heir apparent for the “retiring” Steven Caldwell. The problem is, where Caldwell was poised leadership and veteran savvy at centreback, Perquis…

Sebastian Giovinco Wins MLS MVP: Seba Does The Treble!
Seba wins! Surprising no one it was announced this morning that Toronto FC DP Sebatian Giovinco was the MLS MVP for 2015: Other than potentially going to Kei Kamara there was no one else even close in this race. Seba led the league with 22 goals, and 16 assists, named to the best XI for…

VMP Final Countdown: Number 14 – Joe Bendik
Highest Ranking: 7 Lowest Ranking: 25 Average Ranking: 14.73 EDIT: All the below was written before the announcement that Bendik’s option wasn’t picked up. Not a surprise really, I imagine he’ll pass through the first round of the waiver draft unclaimed. After that he’s got a shot at getting a job somewhere for less. Best…

Ch-Ch-Changes! Toronto FC Release Konopka, Bendik, Jackson and Apparicio
And so it begins. After yesterday’s re-signing of Justin Morrow, Toronto FC wasted little time in releasing four players and exercising contract options to thirteen others. TFC made a somewhat surprising move in releasing both Chris Konopka and Joe Bendik – the two had shared starting duties this past season and it seemed likely that…

VMP Final Countdown: Number 15 – Eriq Zavaleta
Highest Ranking: 10 Lowest Ranking: 27 Average Ranking: 15.11 Duncan. 15 Chivas were a raging success, what could be better than signing a bunch of their former players? Zavaleta was technically a Seattle player when he was signed, a second round pick going to the Sounders, but had been on loan with Chivas for the…
