The South Couch Report : Montreal v Toronto

Last two games of the season and there’s a legitimate chance to finish top 2. Seba is back. Probably win by 4, right? So Didier Drogba isn’t playing. Well that will certainly speed up the game significantly. Likely keep the team physio bored tonight. Bold Predictions : Seba play Seba goal Seba wins On to the Match : 5’ – Cooper had a go and pops it over the top far corner. 8’ – Piatti beats Beitashour and...

Toronto FC vs Montreal Impact: Two Solitudes Derby Time – Can TFC Erase The Memory of Last Year’s Debacle?

Toronto FC vs Montreal Impact ~ 3pm ET ~ Stade Saputo ~ TSN2 Two games left. Two points out of first.  A sub-par homestand over and a tiny, goal-scoring machine finally back to fitness.  So of course it means a game on the road against Montreal to try to stay in the race for one of the top spots and a first round bye.  It’s hard not to look back at last year’s disastrous end to the season (and playoffs) as TFC lost not...

Toronto FC vs DC United: TFC Need A Strong Effort To Stave Off A Surging DCU Side

Toronto FC vs DC United ~ 730pm ET ~ BMO Field ~ TSN4 Will today be the same as the last few?  Another draw, more points lost and that coveted home playoff game still not settled?  If this was the DC United of a month ago, then I’d feel more confident in saying no, that TFC would finally get a win during this end of season homestand and solidify that home playoff match. But of course DCU are coming into Toronto on a pretty good...

The South Stand Report : Toronto v Orlando

After the glut of summer games, I’ve got a weird sense of withdrawal, don’t you? OK, maybe it’s just me. After Toronto came back to tie it and nearly stole the three points (or had the penalty taken away from them… I’m still not sure), a game against the Princes of MLS (cuz they’re the purple ones), Orlando, should be three points. Mostly because they’ve conceded 4 goals in each of their last three games. Yeah, they lost them....

Toronto FC vs Orlando City SC: Can TFC Take Advantage of a Faltering Orlando Team?

Toronto FC vs Orlando City SC ~ 730pm ET ~ BMO Field ~ TSN4 Toronto FC are having a pretty good season; not just by TFC standards, but by MLS standards – second in the East, third best goals against in the league, already in the playoffs (oh a win tonight gets them a home playoff date) and are still in contention for the Supporters Shield – heady stuff for a team that’s made failing spectacularly an unofficial team...

The South Stand Report: Toronto FC 1:1 Philadelphia Union.

I took the Dufferin bus down to the game. It’s occasionally annoying, but generally pretty reliable and ever since they dug the little tunnel under the railway tracks at Queen, it’s been a decent way to get to BMO Field. Apparently they’re now doing construction on that underpass and so the road’s closed, and so the traffic was terrible and it took forever for the bus to get around it via Gladstone to get back...
