Episode 198 – 17/06/03 #VezAndBanneyOut

The gang is mostly here with special guest from The Athletic – Toronto, TFC beat writer Joshua Kloke (@joshuakloke)to talk the thumping of New York, look ahead to a thumping in DC (mostly), talk All-Star Game, VAR, CBC and other acronyms. In this episode, Duncan flaunts his rarely-bridled pessimism, Kristin may hate Canada but loves Canadian television, Mark believes DC United has a long way to go and Joshua is better at running gags more than anyone else.

Give us any rating on iTunes, when you get a chance. It would help immensely.

  1. Oh no, you have Pirlo hiding in your walls! That’s worse then racoons and rats.

Time to call pest control and to do a thorough fumigation of the Vocal Minority studios. But will that work? These old crusty pests are hard to get rid of. They have a very long life. You would think they would be long gone but they keep shuffling along somehow managing to survive.

Might have to set some traps out with some interesting bait, capachinno, beard trimmer, Italian wine or lasagna. Make sure you pick your bait right, a can of chef baryourdee noodles or Starbucks coffee won’t work, These Pirlo’s are hard to fool.

If you catch him please release him in his natural habitat, little Italy. There he will find plenty of food to his liking and I’m sure many folks will welcome him into their homes.

  2. It’s a dark day in MLS. Video replay is being introduced into the league. This is terrible news, even worse then Babouli being waived. I spit out my beer, that’s how bad and shocking the news was.

(By the way I’m still accepting applications to join the Mo Babouli fan club, still the president, founder and head cheerleader of the unofficial Mo Babouli fan club. Once he is signed to a CPL team he will tear the league apart.)

But back to the topic at hand. It’s bad enough that video replay is ruining baseball and hockey, now it’s in soccer too! They are taking the human element out of the game. Technology is going too far, next thing you know robots will invade the pitch. This has to stop! Keep the tradition in the game.

You know what will happen? Massive delays in the game. Have to check every single camera angle in super slow mo. But I’m sure MLS headquarters will love this, now they can fit commercials in the middle of televised games. More money for the Don… Garber that is. And for what?! So a goal can be called off because a player had a toenail offside?!

If MLS is so worried about human errors can somebody please explain me this? How do Toledo and Mark Geiger have jobs? They are not fit to serve drinks at BMO field let alone ref a professional game. I can just imagine them screwing up bartending, but I’m sure MLSE would love them since they would water down the alcohol drinks even more then they already are. I am dismayed how Toledo can get work in this league, how many times must I scream “holy” Toledo how did you screw up that call?! And Mark Geiger, you need a Geiger counter to measure how bad he has blown another call!

Fix the refs! Don’t add video replay.

By the way, where is my stinking press pass MLSE? Been blacklisted again. They can’t handle the truth.
