THE STARTING 11: Ways Sigi Schmid described Saturday’s Match

Sigi

For those of you that listen to the Vocal Minority Podcast regularly, you’ll know that Sounders manager/lunch meat aficionado Sigi Schmid is a “friend to the show”. The big German-born boss often features and chews the fat on the past week’s MLS action. He talks a bit too. After visiting Toronto this weekend and seeing his side grab a draw against TFC, only a man that waxes like a hanging bologna tube could describe 1 point like so…

11. “A game of two halves of a sandwich”

10. “A less than fully stuffed pizza pocket”

9. “An amuse bouche”

8. “Finger licking frustration”

7. “Sweet and sour”

6. “These draws are making me thirsty”

5. “Frei was excellent/Fries are excellent”

4. (30 seconds of chewing noises)

3. “I don’t know what happened to your hawk fellas. Interview over.”

2. (A series of swallowing noises)

1. “No room for a little Italian”

  1. “Finger licking frustration” would make him the Colonel of something. It also means he moves to the GTA and his family contribute a large sum of money to the extension of a cardiac wing of a Mississauga hospital, in his memory.

I wonder if Sigi has the fluency in the French language as Colonel Sanders did. While Sanders never spoke in his English language commercials, for some reason he would declare “du bon poulet” in his Kentucky drawl in Quebec.
